UGAGB Summer Classic - Retford GC, Ordsall - Sunday 23 June

Nestled in the village of Ordsall, Retford Golf Club welcomed the UGAGB members for our fourth event of the season on Sunday, June 23rd. The weather was beautiful, warm, and sunny, offering some of our members the perfect opportunity to don their shorts, adding a touch of summer flair to the day. The scenic course, with its rolling fairways and lush greens, provided a delightful challenge for all participants.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the ever-accommodating catering team, Jan and Ester, who promptly served us lovely bacon sandwiches, accompanied by coffee and tea. Jan later prepared our delicious two-course meal, starting with a refreshing prawn cocktail followed by a traditional steak pie with chips and peas. Every bite was eagerly savoured by our members.

With twenty-two members participating, the competition was equally divided into two divisions, with handicaps of 1-21 and 22-36, respectively. The excellent playing conditions brought with it fine golf with all division one members scoring 30+ points, while only five in division two recorded scores less than 30, highlighting the high level of play throughout the day.
