The UGAGB returned to God's own country on Sunday, 18th August, for the much anticipated Championship event at Northcliffe in Shipley. Although a tad breezy, the weather held up, with good spells of sunshine brightening the day for the 21 members in attendance. This month's event was unique, as it was the only stroke play format of the year, adding an extra layer of intensity to the competition. Additionally, the team event saw participants split into 7 three-ball teams, adding a further competitive edge to the day’s challenges.
Northcliffe provided a stunning yet challenging backdrop for the day's play. The course, known for its excellent condition and super-fast greens, tested the members from start to finish. The opening tee shot over a ravine, flanked by trees, provided a nerve-wracking start to the round. And just when players thought they had seen it all, the signature 18th hole awaited a raised tee with a daunting descent to a green nestled at the bottom of a valley, right in front of the clubhouse. It was a thrilling, yet demanding way to end a stroke play competition, leaving no margin for error.

Team Event
The team event was as fiercely contested as the individual play, with the "Nines" comprising Matviy Bdzola, Mick & Geoff Gillies, claiming the spoils on countback, finishing with 83.

Maximum Score per Hole
Ambroz Doczyminskyi, was close to reclaiming the prize he won last year, scoring 10 on 3 holes, but the prize winner scoring 10 on 4 holes was George Frost.... congratulations????
Main Event Winners
The main event of the day, the UGAGB Championship, was fiercely contested and ultimately Matviy Bdzola emerged victorious with an outstanding net score of 70, securing victory by 4-shots. Last year's winner, Ash Sanders, presented Matviy with the trophy, to add to the UGAGB Challenge he won at the second event of the year.
In Division One, Matviy’s net 70 was unbeatable, runner-up was John Pasicznyk’s with 74 and Mike Bartkiw third, with 76.
In Division Two, Graham Meggitt won with net 76, Shaun Stramkowski runner-up with 77 and Iwan Kudiarskyj third, with 80.
